When I'm not teaching or trying to solve an open problem ...
- My most important work in progress is raising Θ(1) children (joint work with my wife; we acknowledge the contribution of grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc.).
- When I have time, I like jogging, especially in nature.
- I enjoy random walks in Czech forests.
- In summer, I like hiking on mountains.
- Thinking how to solve an open problem ...
Books, articles, videos, etc. that I liked and can recommend (well, not updated for a long time...)
The main topic is personal development:
- Book The end of Procrastination
(in Czech “Konec prokrastinace”), written by Petr Ludwig – not only about how to tackle procrastination,
but also about motivation, effective time planning, heroism (in the ordinary life), and objectivity.
Available in Czech, English, and many other languages.
See also Czech web page,
English YouTube channel, or
Czech YouTube channel.
- GrowJob institute – a company, founded by Petr Ludwig,
that offers lectures or workshops (in Czech) or personal consultations on personal development,
such as tackling procrastination, satisfaction, focus etc. They also have some articles and videos in Czech on their webpage.
See also recorded talks from various conferences they organize.
- Course Learning how to learn –
we are learning for 13-18 years, but has anybody ever told us how to do it effectively? Besides learning, they discuss some mind tricks for problem solving.
- ChiRunning – a book about how to run (based on T’ai Chi).
Running seems to be one thing that (nearly) everybody assumes to know how to do,
but learning to do it efficiently is a lifetime project!
(Especially after spending most of childhood sitting in school or in front a PC, TV, “smart” phone, etc.)
